4 Subtle Transformations To Revamp The Newspaper

 In this era of digitization, there are various sources to acquire knowledge and gain insights into what is happening around the globe. Blogs, E-news, and Social media platforms are readily available on google. Despite all such drastic transformations, some old-school stuff never becomes extinct.  

The landline telephones are replaced by mobile phones, and the old roll film cameras are replaced by HD digital cameras.  But, today too, a Newspaper looks like an immortal resource of news and entertainment for the masses.

Although the newspaper-reading population is declining, numerous people cannot kickstart their day without reading the headlines in the newspaper. 

Newspapers and Television (and the internet) are still the most genuine news transmitting/publishing mediums. As you scroll down, you can find a few changes that should be made to subtly revamp the newspaper to make it more appealing. 

1. An Additional Literature Page 

The prime purpose of the newspaper is to provide the latest news, entertainment, arts, sports, and various activities going around the area. However, some newspapers contain a page about literature either daily or on the weekend. But, some papers do not have this section at all. I would like to request the newspaper publishing companies to allot either half or a whole page to the literature daily. 

This can be a great treat to the literature-loving audience who hates reading about politics. Literature lovers would appreciate the news publisher's efforts to display the content about the best books to read, their reviews, the story of great authors, poems, and anything related to literature. 

   

2.  The First Page Should Be The First Impression

There is an orthodox ritual that most newspaper publishing agencies follow all around the Earth. That is to attack the reader's morning with the blast of the breaking news on the front page. This issue has been raised a lot of times. However, the publication houses seem to ignore it. You have to start your day with a newspaper showing accidents, deaths, corruption, shady scams, rape cases, pollution, theft, murders, all types of crime, elections, and politics on the first page. 

This news is vital for us to know as we should be aware of what's happening around us. 

But, you can fill the first page with new inventions, new records, festive events, the nation's progress, tree plantation programs, public welfare activities, and much more news. Yes, the reports that focus on the positive aspect of your country. This first impression of the newspaper will be admired among the citizens. It will give them a feeling that the newspaper is also taking note of the good news on the front page. 

Rather than hiding all the good happenings in the middle pages, keeping it on the frontline will define the positive attitude of the newspaper service providers. 

3. A Page For Kids 

I have seen the newspapers having an extra sheet reserved for the kids. I really appreciated this. But, most of these printed media suppliers provide kids' entertainment only at the weekends. In my view, there should be a daily dose of knowledge, moral stories, fun activities, jokes, colorful drawings, and all the stuff that is inside a kids' page.

In this way, today's kids will make a habit of reading the newspaper and not just playing games on smartphones. The smartphone is already taking over every other means of information and entertainment. So, this clever move will help the publishers to attract young audiences to the printed media. 

4. An Environment Page 

The school and junior college boards have included the "environment subject" in their syllabus. My recommendation will be to include the environment page in the newspaper. This page can have news about the people striving for the welfare of natural habitats, tree plantation programs, natural fertilizers, and organic farming, and more related topics. Some newspapers are on the right track. 

But this is very rare. To increase the environmental awareness among the citizens, a page discussing the pollution issues and mentioning the nature conservation activities must be on the board. By doing this, the awareness about the environment's well-being will be constantly hammered into people's minds.  

They will start taking it more seriously than before. Reading, writing, talking, discussing, listening, and doing something about solving environmental issues will be a great help for future generations. That's why allowing a specific page for the environment in a newspaper may be a small but massive step if you can look at the big picture of the future. 

The 4 things mentioned above can guarantee a subtle transformation of a newspaper. Additionally, I would suggest that the newspapers should also provide a space for technological news and innovations. This will definitely appeal to the readers, especially the young ones.
