5 Reasons Why It's Worth To Buy A Bicycle

 I'm writing this health blog for all kinds of people but especially for those who procrastinate their resolution to stay fit. 

A cycle is the first vehicle that a child rides. As we arrive in the teenage years, the craze for bicycles gets replaced by the craze for motorcycles, and then gradually we get curious about cars. We become less interested in riding an eco-friendly low maintenance ride that keeps us healthy. This is quite natural. However, there are a whole lot of young adults and middle-aged people who enjoy riding the bicycle for commuting. Some teenagers have a daily habit of cycling. 



I love cycling. But my interest in cycles heightened up after returning from the Europe trip. I was amused to observe many fitness-conscious people all over Europe riding bikes. It inspired me to create awareness among the people about the benefits of buying a cycle. 

The "5 reasons why you should buy a cycle" will help you consider why every cent you spend to purchase a cycle is worth the investment.  

1. Fitness 



Do you wanna be fit, shed away extra fats, strengthen your bones, & increase muscle flexibility? 

The answer lies in an easy-to-perform aerobic workout that is cycling. Other forms of cardio exercise are very beneficial in losing weight but require more effort to get habitual to it. 

Comparatively, it takes less time to get habituated to rest your butts on a saddle and start pedaling regularly. Moreover, the other exercises put more stress on your body (but are obviously effective) as compared to cycling when it comes to losing fats. 

Cycling offers more health benefits by exerting less stress on your joints. However, you can ride your bike uphill at a faster pace to give you more exercise.  

Therefore, riding on a pedal cycle is one of the simplest yet fruitful forms of exercise to stay fit physically as well as mentally. Yes, cycling also reduces stress.

2. Commuting for Busy Class 


A modern-time generation of hustlers knows the importance of staying fit. Yet a complaint disguised as an excuse is that they can't find the time to maintain their physical fitness. Cycling as a medium of commuting is the best solution they can find. 

If your workplace is far but not very far from your home, you can choose a bicycle to travel. In this way, you aren't disturbing your schedule. You don't have to allow any additional space for fitness. All you need to do is leave your house a few minutes earlier as you prefer a cycle over a car or public transport. But if doing this will keep you healthy and doesn't ask for a drastic rescheduling of daily plans, it's worth it.  

In case if your work demands long hours of car driving, there is an alternate way to deal with your fitness timings. Let's say, before or after work you are looking to visit a nearby friend or grocery store. You can paddle your way to cover the distance from your home to the desired spot. If you can't find the motivation to leave your sweet home and ride a cycle, find some household stuff to buy/job/business/recreational work outdoor and commute using a bicycle.  

3. Observation Plus Exercise 


For most of you, it is more fun to step out and chill than to exercise inside the four walls of your house. It is more thrilling to ride a motorcycle to see what's cooking across the city streets. It is rather boring to work out at home (and even at the gym for some people). But replacing the motorcycle with the cycle will do the trick for you. 

This doesn't mean that I'm against any sort of workout. But you must get yourself a cycle for the dual advantage. The dual advantage is that you enjoy the ride to your favorite place or explore a new area while you burn some calories simultaneously. 

Connecting to the open environment is always a great stress reliever and mood enhancer. Buying a gym cycle will only solve one purpose i.e. the fitness, but riding out with a bicycle is always a better option with dual benefits.

4. Eco-Friendly Ride 


"Walk wherever and whenever you can. Where you can't, use a bicycle. Where you can't you a bicycle, use public transport. Make less use of private vehicles or use electric vehicles" 

The environmentalists keep saying something along these lines to create awareness about the use of eco-friendly transportation.  A bicycle doesn't emit any pollutants in the air and it is one of the fantastic forms of exercise. 

You may not be directly involved in eco-friendly projects or environmental conservation activities. But by choosing a bicycle as a commuting medium to cover short distances daily, you are indirectly contributing to an eco-friendly lifestyle. The contribution may be small but it can make a difference on a global level. For that to happen, everyone must understand the importance of cycling in the context of fitness and eco-friendly transportation.

5. Low Maintenance Ride  


After reading the four sub-topics above, you must be willing to buy a new cycle or finally start reusing the dusty cycle resting in the backyard of your house for a long time. You already know that cycle is worth investing in if you are health conscious. This ride makes sure that you stay fit and it demands very low maintenance in return. 

A basic cycle to help you reduce fats and stay healthy doesn't costs much. Additionally, its accessories aren't much costly either. Compared to its benefits the amount is worth spending. If you are a rider who participates in bicycle races or one who wants to participate in Tour de France, then you can look for lavish cycles. You can paddle with passion! 

The cost of cycles depends upon your budget and needs. Servicing and maintenance of the cycle are not expensive too. You need to lubricate the parts of the cycle like the chain and the breaks. You have to check the tire pressure. See whether the nuts and bolts are tight. Lastly, you have to replace the damaged parts if any. These are some of the basic maintenance tips. A cycle doesn't cost you a big deal of money. 

The hunger to attach as many accessories to a cycle is unending. There was this friend of mine who overly modified his cycle back in the school days. He attached a fake silencer and inserted an inflammable material in it and burned it with a match stick. The naive schoolboys used to drop their jaw by looking at the cycle with a silencer emitting smoke. He attached a mirror to the handle and embellished the ride with many decorative elements. I do come across freaks who put makeup on their bike like a newlywed bride. However, there are a few basic accessories for a bicycle. 

A cyclist knows the above 5 reasons that make bicycles a ride worth riding. My tour to Europe escalated my love for cycles. In countries like the Netherlands and France, you can find many cyclists. There is a separate track for bicycle riders alongside the road. I was astonished to see a three-storeyed cycle stand in the Netherlands. Nowadays, there is a rising fad of riding bikes. More and more people are getting fitness conscious and are buying bikes. Why not go for it?

To conclude, a cycle is fat burning, stress-relieving, pollution-free, and a low maintenance ride which is an effective vehicle to commute & stay fit. If you are a hustling person who wants to stay fit but can't find the time, cycling is the panacea for you. You will never regret the decision of buying a cycle. It's worth the price. In fact far more worthy than its price.
